Meet Our Head Curator
Catherine Cornelissen is not just the Founder but also Chief Curator at Decor A List. She received an MA in History of Art and Art World Practise from Christie’s Education / University of Glasgow and an MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute in London. Some of her favourite art historical movements include Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism; essentially an affinity for the avant garde in the 20th Century.
Before launching Decor A List, Catherine worked at David Gill Gallery in St James’s where she discovered an rappord for contemporary design, working with artists such as Zaha Hadid, Fredrikson Stallard, Barnaby Barford, Mattia Bonetti, David Chipperfield and Michele Oka Doner. She also continues to work alongside Philippa Devas in interior design both in residential and commercial projects while running Decor A List and providing art sourcing, interior design and bespoke furniture to her clients.
Catherine believes that art and design should exist in harmony in an interior — “in conversation” — to create a sanctuary that reflects your own personal style that is completely unique to you. After studying fine and decorative art extensively and working within these roles, Catherine understands that art can either stand out in an interior, blend or provide a backdrop and loves to mix antique with mid-century with contemporary; the options are endless and of course, exciting!
